Chamkani is
not only name of a village but it is tribe, family or blood
ties. Originally the name was Samkani but later on it
changed to Sokani and finally Chamkani. Its people are
called Sokaniwaal or Chamkanian. Part of Chamkani is also
exists in Afghanistan (Paktia) province which is the origin.
The people of Chamkani developed in every part of life very
well. Specially religion, politics, sports etc. Which
increased the popularity of Chamkani worldwide. In this
website we would be focusing village Chamkani Peshawar. According to
census 1998 total population of village Chamkani was
approximately 20,000. But now it is more then 35,000.
Hazrat Mia Umar Baba Chamkani (1973~1776) and Haji Darya Khan Baba (Abdul Khel) are the people who spent their lives for the guidance and education of the people. Haji Darya Khan Baba was actually Chamkanian and spent his life for the guidance of people thought Quran and Sunnah. He is buried in village Chamkani Peshawar. He has also the honor that he was the teacher of Hazrat Mia Umar Baba. Hazrat Mia Umar Baba was born in Farid Abad (Lahore) in 1673(1074 A.D). He got married in Chamkani and moved to Chamkani later on. He is also buried in Chamkani. However there were other religious scholars who had contributed in it.
Hidayat Ullah Khan Chamkani (Former speaker NWFP Assembly) was also a personality which can never be forgotten for years. He was selected for speaker in provincial assembly two times (1993-1994 & 1997-2001). He was the first person who elect two time for NWFP assembly as a speaker. Hidayat Ullah Khan Chamkani was born in Qada Khel Chamkani in 1935 and died on 18 April 2005 in the age of 70.
Khalid Waqar Khan Chamkani is also well known MPA from Chamkani. He was elect as MPA in 10 October 2005 from MMA party defeating Hidayat Ullah Khan Chamkani in PF11. Born in Mohallah Yaseen Khel Chamkani in 1961.
Village and Mohallas area of Chamkani is approximately 4332 meter square but increasing day by day as population. However it is still very easy to locate some one due to these names of "Mohallahs". There are 7 or 8 Mohallas with its clear boundaries. According to the area and population Mohalla Qadir Khel is the largest among them. Rests are Yaseen Khel, Bahram Khel, Mustafa Khel, Khwaja Khel, Chugha Khel, Bazar Ghari, Mohallah Qasaban, Mohallah Mochian, Mohallah Qazian, Khaliq Abad, Kohatian No 1, 2, Saidan, Miskeen Abad, Zarin Abad, Miagan, Jamrood Abad, Jan Khan Gari, Haji Abad, Shekhan, Baba Khel. |
